A Message from Bill Hanvey -How Will the New Tariffs Affect You?

On March 26, 2025, President Trump announced a 25% tariff on imported passenger vehicles, light trucks, and key auto parts, citing national security concerns under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act.

These tariffs will take effect on April 3rd for vehicles and May 3rd for parts. Imports under the USMCA may qualify for partial exemptions based on U.S. content. Further guidance, including specific product codes, is expected soon.
